17th-century landmark · Historic Center, Guadalajara
Four centuries of history. One night that's yours alone.
The first cloister built in Guadalajara — restored, and honored for it — now opens its cantera stone arches to weddings, corporate events and film productions that deserve more than a ballroom.
The setting
A 17th-century cloister, hidden in the heart of the city
Founded by Discalced Carmelite nuns as the first cloister in Guadalajara, Ex Convento de Santa Teresa has been writing its story since 1690 within walls of cantera stone. This is where Nueva Galicia — the colonial province ruled from Guadalajara — signed on to the Plan de Iguala, the 1821 pact that set Mexico's independence in motion. Today its restoration, honored with Guadalajara's 2021 award for the conservation of heritage buildings, makes it unlike anywhere else in the city to celebrate.

Events for a cause
A landmark that also opens its doors to a cause
We believe a historic landmark can have a positive impact on its community. That's why we were honored to host the Fundación Mexicana de Medicina Paliativa y Alivio del Dolor en Cáncer A.C., the Mexican foundation for palliative medicine and cancer pain relief, for its 34th anniversary celebration in July 2026.
Do you represent a nonprofit or a social initiative? Ex Convento can be the setting for your benefit gala. Reach out — we want to hear from you.
